San Lee Recreation Park

A great place to take your family is the San Lee Recreation Park in Sanford, NC. About an hour north of Raeford, it has two stocked lakes that are perfect for teaching your kids to fish for bass or catfish. There are plenty of trails to hike around too. Or bike, if you prefer. A favorite feature of the park is the live animal museum right inside the main office. There are live snakes from poisonous to non-poisonous, turtles, squirrels, owls, and other animals. Kids love to go there and see these wild creatures. It's neat for adults too! One of the lakes offers paddle boating very inexpensively and there are geese that simply roam around the place. Don't get too close or they'll chase you away. If you're in this area and haven't been there, this is one of the nicest campgrounds there is. Enjoy!
